"Everland Grand Entrance"
|
Everland could very possibly be the “happiest place on earth”. Well, perhaps the happiest place in Korea. With the smell of cinnamon and caramelised popcorn filling the air, we were all geared up and ready for a wild time!
Our first stop was the world-famous, wooden structured, 20-stories high T-Express! T-Express is a branch of SK Telecom. Interesting how SK Telecom is the creator or the T.mi and also something that is on the other end of the spectrum – a roller coaster!
We then went for milder rides such as the Rotating House (something like Viking in an enclosed space) and The Hurricane. Very soon, we heard our stomachs start to rumble. The rides really made us work up an appetite. We were given meal coupons at the start of the day, and we could choose various cuisines to suit our grumbling tummies. For us, we chose the western cuisine and had a slice of Hawaiian pizza for dinner. It was a nice break from all the Korean food!
The T-Express! The world's steepest roller coaster |
Just seeing the roller coaster ride from the ski lift (or Human Sky) sent chills down our spines! Before we knew it, we found ourselves right smack in the middle of the queue to the ride. There was no turning back.
The T-Express started off with a sharp incline of 77 degrees before it made a gradual ride to the horror-zone – a steep drop of close to 90 degrees! During that time, the beautiful sunset was in our view. Probably even the best view from Everland. But we were too bogged down by the fact that we would soon be facing not only steep drops, but also high speeds and sharp turns.
The ride was amazing. With more than 6 sudden drops (yes, I counted), I felt as though if I could conquer this ride, I could conquer the rest of the rides in the entire theme park! Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to try out all the rides in the park.
Being the biggest and tallest roller coaster in the theme park, no other rides in could be compared to the T-Express. It was simply amazing. Bucket list – check!
Horror Village in Everland! |
Just when we thought things couldn’t get any more terrifying, we went for the Horror Maze. Being horror film buffs, we were rather confident of making it through effortlessly – how wrong we were.
The moment we entered the holding room, an ominous-looking white face signalling us to enter the maze greeted us. That by itself was enough to scare off one of us even before we could begin! The rest is history; we scrambled through the darkness while being chased and grabbed by ghouls that were petrifying beyond belief. In the end, we gave up midway and even emerged with a few cuts and bruises. What a shame!
The Double Rock Spin will leave your head spinning! |

Royal Jubilee Carrose -One of the friendlier rides in Everland |
The sun started to set and we walked towards Four Seasons Garden to watch the parade and the highlight of the night – fireworks! The parade was in Korean and we could not really decipher what was being said. However, we could understand that it was basically about how the five coloured creatures (they looked like teletubbies/power rangers to us, haha!) beat the evil dragon with the help of a phoenix. A classic tale of “good triumphs evil”.
A spectacular night performance |
Fireworks to end it all with a bang! |
As the dragon fell, the firework show started proper. All lights were turned off and colours exploded against the beautiful night sky. It was spectacular. A beautiful ending to a great day out!
