Shop Till You Drop!

Thinking of Celebrity Street, we had images of pavements with celebrities’ handprints and signatures. Little did we know, we found ourselves bedazzled in front of a classy European-style sidewalk with premium brand shops lining both sides.  Bustling with elegant cafes and designer stores, Garosu Gil, also known as Celebrity Street, is a night scene most would never miss. I was amazed at the small spotlights that littered the street, lighting up the sharp outfits that most of the shoppers were clad in.

The elegant cafes along the street were almost packed to the brim, and it was clear that this street has a happening night scene, filled with immaculately dressed customers. One café that struck us in particular was a café called ‘8 Seconds’.  Though located in a side lane, quite a few people managed to find the place and enjoyed their food in the softly lit restaurant. One interesting fact about this café was that there was a boutique right next to the café called ‘8 Seconds’ as well! We were amazed at the latest apparel there and definitely agreed with their slogan, “Cheaper than Zara, trendier than Uniqlo.”

Fitting the ambience of Celebrity Street (or as we KIM2CHI like to call it - “Korean Beverly Hills”) the shoppers were clearly in touch with the latest trends in the fashion industry. We spotted many up and coming trends that may hit the market like a Hallyu wave. We won’t be surprised if it does as this street is visited by the who’s who in the Korean entertainment scene. We wonder whether Psy, who recently won the “MTV VMA 2012 best-dressed award”, himself got his accessories and style from this area – after all, this is the Gangnam area.

Although we didn’t see any celebs this time around, we sure did have a whale of a time looking at all the gorgeous clothes. If I ever come back to Korea, Garosu Gil is definitely a place I’ll stop by again!
